Tolani Maritime Institute conducted an essay writing competition for its employees and residents on Thursday, January 12, 2023. The competition was conducted as a part of a year-long celebration of the 75th year of India’s independence under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, an initiative by the Government of India.
The theme of the essay writing competition was India of my dreams @ 2047. Participants were allowed to express their ideas for future India in Marathi, Hindi and English. They were given 45 minutes to write their essay in 300 to 400 words. Nominations were invited in three different categories. Category 1 was from 5th to 10th standard, category 2 was from 11 to graduation, and Category 3 was open for employees and residents. Topic and parameters were announced well in advance so that the participants could generate their ideas towards the future of India.
A total of 26 participants participated in this exciting competition, of which 10 were faculty members and 16 were residents of TMI. There were 9 participants for Marathi, 6 for Hindi and 11 for English. The competition was held at the Learning Resource Centre of Tolani Maritime Institute from 1600 to 1645 hours. There were three winners in each language. All the participants were given a participation certificate for this essay writing competition. Participants were also offered tea and snacks after the event. Mr Rahul Kale coordinated this event along with the librarian, Dr Rahul Viswe and his team.
